Did You Know...

  • The average life expectancy of an outdoor cat is only two to five years, while an indoor cat may survive for 17 or more years!

  • When a new feather grows on a bird it has a blood supply and is thus called a blood feather. If it is broken during this time, the bird can lose a lot of blood, so you should see your vet.

  • Rabbits produce special soft, green droppings called cecotropes which they need to eat. These droppings are from a special part of the intestines and are very high in nutrients.

  • Trimming your pet’s nails often (once a month) will help keep the blood supply (the quick) short and thus the nails can be kept trimmed shorter! Walks on pavements help too.

  • The male seahorse is responsible for carrying the eggs of its babies until they hatch, not the female!

  • Giraffes give birth while running and the baby gets up and runs with the mother after birth
